Andrew Foan
Artistic Director

He is the founder of the Da Ponte Opera Festival.

He began his career as a singer specialising in the Mozartian bass-baritone repertoire (Figaro, Leporello, Guglielmo, and Don Alfonso), collaborating with various theatrical institutions including the English National Opera and Scottish Opera.

His long-standing connection with Italy began in 2001, the year he performed the role of Uberto in Pergolesi's La serva padrona in Venice.

Over the past fifteen years, he has established himself in the United Kingdom as an esteemed singing teacher.

He regularly conducts masterclasses, and his passion for teaching led to the creation of MusicaLink in 2017, in collaboration with eminent Italian colleagues, with the aim of building an Anglo-Italian cultural bridge. Andrew is the Musical Director of the chamber choir "I Tredici".

In 2020, they recorded a new Requiem, The Light of Love, written by British composer Paul Carr and commissioned specifically for the ensemble, performing its world premiere in Venice in 2022. In 2023, they returned to perform with The Four New Seasons, a work by the same composer.
